Dear Friend of HNN,
I want to express my deep gratitude to the Church of the Village for sponsoring and hosting Hope for Our Neighbors in Need (HNN). I am grateful to you for supporting COTV and its ministries.
Thank you for your ongoing support for the crucial work of HNN. We serve tens of thousands of persons in New York City every year who are homeless or suffer from food insecurity. HNN strives to provide not only food assistance, but resources, referrals, and encouragement to move toward a more stable and secure life. In fact, we believe our primary offering is not food, but hope and love. Our guests regularly tell us that they feel cared for, valued, and accepted for who they are and where they are in their life circumstances.
HNN has grown tremendously over the past few years. To date in 2018, we have served 60,000 people! We provide multiple meals per person, per week, so this averages out to more than 25,000 meals per week between our Saturday Community Meal and the Tuesday food pantry.
If you have volunteered, you know how gratifying it is to get to the end of your shift and know that you have significantly impacted so many person’s lives. Both our guests and volunteers comment frequently that this is one of the best programs they have experienced. Corporate, academic, and other groups view HNN as a premiere site for volunteers and donations.
Our growth has led us to the next level. In early 2019, HNN will become an independent non-profit charitable organization (501c3). At the same time, our founding organization, the Church of the Village, will continue to be an integral support and host for the program.
As the executive director of this amazing program, I write to ask you to make a gift to HNN's year-end fundraising campaign. Our goal is to raise $100,000 plus. Whether you can give $10 or $10,000, your gift will help HNN keep serving plentiful, nutritious food to thousands of persons in need and to do this in a spirit of love and affirmation. Your gift will enable us to give a single mother diapers and formula and to offer more assistance to the LGBTQ youth that are living on streets. These are only two among hundreds of examples I could list.
You can have a lasting, life-changing effect on those who walk through our doors. Won’t you please give today?
— Make a donation online at ChurchoftheVillage.org/Donate. Please earmark you gift for “HNN.”
— Send a check made payable to “COTV” and put “HNN” in the memo line.
Thank you in advance for your generous gift. It means the world to me, and to those we serve, to have your support.
With Sincere Gratitude,
Executive Program Director
