Kids and Families Ministry

Dear families with young children,

We are so glad you found Church of the Village. We believe children and their caregivers are an important part of our worship experience and we know that it’s not always easy to make it to church each week. Thanks for making the effort! Kids bring a unique energy, joy and creative spirit to the worship space and we want to foster this uniqueness as much as possible. Our Children’s Ministry is evolving and we are making great strides to increase inclusion across all generations. Children of all ages are welcome to stay in the service.

Stroller and Wheelchair Access

The Church of the Village has a stroller-accessible entrance on West 13th Street. Just walk up to the door and ring the buzzer. For sanctuary access, use the elevator to go to the first floor and walk through the sanctuary door. Strollers can be stored at the back of the sanctuary or in the adjoining lounge. Babies, children, and breastfeeding mothers are very welcome in our casual worship environment. Changing tables are available in a bathroom near the West 13th Street entrance as well as in the Children’s Room on the gymnasium level.

Family Pews

There are two pews designated for families with young children on the south side of the sanctuary. This space is designed to give you flexibility where kids of all ages can move, make noise and take part in the worship experience. Play mats, toys, books and coloring supplies are available in the pews. Don’t worry about running late - you and your family are welcome to join as much or as little of the service as you can. We hope you’ll find the family pews to be a casual and welcoming place for you and your young family.

Children’s Room

If you need a place to escape, visit our multi-purpose Children’s Room fully dedicated to children and their families located off the gymnasium on the lower level. Equipped with toys, a pack ‘n play, changing table, and additional supplies, this room is open and available every Sunday for children and a caregiver to utilize as needed. While children are always welcome to stay in the service, this room is designed to provide a comfortable and flexible worship environment for young families. The church service is broadcast through an audio connection in the Children’s Room. We ask that a parent or caregiver stay in the Children’s Room with your child while in use.
