Covenant of Membership

I, ____________________, on this ________ day of _________________ in the year 2021, hereby covenant, with God’s help, to faithfully participate in the ministries of The Church of the Village through these seven minimum commitments:

†        PRAYER. I will strive to live prayerfully, in dialogue with God and in prayer with and for
the community of the Church of the Village.

†        PRESENCE. I will attend worship every Sunday, online or on-site, when I am in good
health. I will participate regularly in a Grow & Connect group for spiritual growth and
connecting with others in our community.

†        GIFTS. I will make a regular financial commitment to the church.

†        SERVICE. I will give of my time in service to the church and community (e.g., work in a
committee or ministry area, volunteer with The Red Door Place food ministry, help with
the Virtual Coffee House, participate in social justice advocacy, etc.).

†        WITNESS. I will look for opportunities to bear witness to God’s work in my life and will
invite others to experience the Church of the Village community.

†        RADICAL INCLUSIVITY. In the church and the world, I will work to create safe and
affirming spaces for all people, especially those who are on the margins because of
race, class, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, ability, etc.

†        JUSTICE. In the church and the world, I will actively work to change and end systems
of oppression and advocate for those who are harmed by them.

In making this covenant, with God’s help, the Church of the Village community commits to journey with you in a spirit of grace, forgiveness, and affirmation, supporting you to grow in your connection to God and your love and service to others. We will pray for you and surround you with a community of love, inspiration, and challenge.
