What's Happening?
Abraham Stories: The Qur'an and the Bible
On Wednesday evenings (6:30pm-8pm) for the month of January, Pastor Vicki will be leading a series called
"Abraham Stories: The Qur'an and the Bible", in which we will look at stories, from Abraham and Sarah to Jesus,
that our faith tradition shares with Islam. We will look at their commonalities, their differences, and how they
help us to understand our own faith and the nature of God. Pizza will be provided, and donations for food will be collected.

February Justice Reading Group
Interested in learning more about justice issues and how our faith intersects with them? On the 3rd Sunday of each month,
we meet after church for a brunch (Donations to offset the food will be collected). All are welcome.
Each month, we will discuss a new book, and we ask that each participant get the book and read it before the discussion.
On February 19 at 12:15pm, we will discuss the book Touch by Rudy Rasmus.

Did You Know?
Samuel Parkes Cadman (1864-1936), was the pastor of our Church from 1895-1901 (then known as Metropolitan Temple).
He was an advocate of religious tolerance and fought against racism and anti-semitism. He co-founded the National Conference on Christians and Jews, now known as
the National Conference for Community and Justice.
In the 1920's he became one of "the first of the 'radio pastors', his sermons reach[ing] the ears of millions" (New York Times). One of our meeting rooms, Cadman Lounge, is named after him,
as is Cadman Plaza in Brooklyn.
The Rev. Cadman once said: "Personally, I would not give a fig for any man's religion whose horse, cat and dog do not feel its benefits. Life in any form is our perpetual responsibility."
Rev. Cadman's legacy continues with our committment to Social Justice Action. His pioneering work spreading the message as a 'Radio Pastor' continues through our weekly Sermon Podcasts.
