COTV Choir

The Church of the Village Choir sings many styles of music, from classical church sounds to spirituals, contemporary, jazz, and even bluegrass. Rehearsals are Thursdays at 6:45pm and Sundays at 9:30am. The choir takes a summer break in July and August. New singers are always welcome. If you love to sing or play an instrument, please contact Choir Coordinator Paul Pillitteri or our Minister of Worship Arts to join.

Dance Ministries

Dance Ministries at the Church of the Village uses drama and dance to fully and joyously lift our spirit. Trained and non-trained dancers, children, and adults are welcome to join one of our special performances. From tap-dancing sheep at our annual Christmas pageant to sacred dance for Holy Week, we Feel the Spirit in many ways.  Come dance! Contact Martha Chapman or Maura Burns to find out more. View Christmas Pageant excerpts from December 2016 here.

Spirit-Filled Worship!

We worship together, live on Zoom and Facebook Live, every Sunday morning at 10:30 am ET. Our worship is alive and dynamic and you’ll find that no two services are ever the same. We observe Holy Communion every Sunday, engaging different voices from the congregation to lead us in this sacrament. We also offer a time for healing prayer every week, for those seeking healing, wholeness, or blessing for themselves or others.

Songs from Our Garden

Church of the Village cultivates and commissions new choral anthems and congregational songs as a way to respond to the response to the need for theologically progressive music. Here are some examples.

O Great Spirit

A gift to the Worship Vision Team of the United Methodist Church of the Village
Music by: Nehemiah Luckett
Lyrics based on Selected Poems by Meisaan Chan

A Woman's Touch

A woman’s touch, a woman’s tears,
An act of love, a tender risk
was criticized, misunderstood
yet it was holy, it was good.

Tired, dusty feet meet caring hands
A kneeling Christ breaks every rule
it was too much, it was too close
Jesus persists: it must be done.

A table spread, a group of friends
a humble meal, some wine and bread.
“This is my body and my blood”
Poured out for you, poured out in love.

When God's People

When God’s people lift their song
and from their hearts sing praise to God,
It’s time for wonders, it’s time for wonders,
amazing wonders. (2x)

All hearts are healed, all fears released,
we feel Godʼs holy presence as we sing. (2x)

Cuando el pueblo del Señor alaba a
Dios de corazón, suceden cosas,
suceden cosas maravillosas. (2x)

Hay sanidad, liberación,
se siente la presencia del Señor. (2x)

When God’s people lift their song and from their hearts sing praise to God,
It’s time for wonders, it’s time for wonders, amazing wonders.  (2x)

Our fears are faced, the healing starts: God’s holy dream takes root within our hearts.

When God’s people join their hands to work for justice in the land and from their hearts sing praise to God, It’s time for wonders, it’s time for wonders, amazing wonders. (2x)

Our fears are faced…
